My son has not been able to use it since he got it. Could not get internet to work properly, said he needed to up date Java. Would freeze up when he tried to update Java. Went to Ubuntu website as suggested by ReCoupit and now the Toshiba is dead!!! Completely froze up! Screen is black...virus from Ubuntu site?! Would not recomend this laptop to anyone!!

We purchased this tablet for a second laptop for the family. We were very happy with its performance. It is great for web browsing and light gaming. We also use it with a bluetooth GPS receiver for a nice Map while driving.
Considering a return to MS Windows I went to the Toshiba website for drivers. By supplying Toshiba with the laptop service tag number, we were eligible to buy the re-installation DVDs for only $24.99 including shipping.The automated setup discs installed Windows Vista Business Premium, a MS office 2007 trial, and several Toshiba applications applications. Runs great, especially after upgrading to 4GB memory.

Because I do a lot of high-end graphics manipulation and creation the first thing I did was upgrade the memory modules from the 2 512mb to 2 2gb modules. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate without a hitch. In addition I installed Office 2007 (all of it), Adobe Master Collection CS5 (Because I didn't go for the 64-bit option I had to install Adobe Premier CS4 and Adobe Elements CS4. I installed Adobe Acrobat X (Because I like the fuctionality better.

I cannot say enough about this tablet. It handles ALL of those apps (and if you know the apps they're hard on any computer - even a desktop) like a champ. I don't have lock up issues like some are saying - probably because they never upgraded the memory - and those apps require a minimum of 2gb ram JUST to install them.

Needless to say... I LOVE my tablet - it does everything I expected and more.

The only issue I seem to be having is with one of my games - Age of Empires II and Age of Empires III - no matter what I do I can't seem to get the games to recognize the DirectDraw drivers for the Intel 945 Express Graphics chip. According to the Direct X diagnostic utility it has complete functionality... But no go on the games - states that its not installed. So not sure what to do about that one.

On the upside - I flip my tablet into tablet mode and very rarely actually use it as a laptop. Even when installing applications - I love the onscreen keyboard and the ability to 'write' on the screen with the Tablet functionality built into Windows 7.

And considering most tablets that don't have the functionality or space this one has cost hundreds more - I'd have to say that this was a wonderful deal (even with the memory upgrade was about sixty bucks to get both 2 gig modules delivered).

I would definately recommend this tablet to anyone who wants one and can't go all out and spend over a grand to get one.

The only other con I can see is that you have to pull up the keyboard to install the ram instead of like a lot of portables having the door underneath.

Great little Tablet/Laptop PC for the Price. Works Fabulous with Windows 7. DVD Burner works Great. This unit had both Tablet pens with it. Why pay [$] for a new one when a Pre-owned one Works the same for Less.

recommend 3 gig ram, 128 gig ssd to allow for mobile carry and use. i also added a 6 cell battery that attaches to the bottom.
